ABA Services

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Behavior Therapy focuses on providing the individual who has been diagnosed with Autism the necessary tools in order to replace challenging behaviors with appropriate and socially acceptable behaviors so the individual can navigate various environments with the least restrictions possible.

What to expect:

A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to be present anywhere from 1-3 times a week, depending on how many hours of direct care the individual receives, how many hours each session is scheduled for, and how many Therapists are on the team.

A qualified Behavior Therapist/Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) to work directly with the individual who is receiving ABA services. All Therapists will have passed a thorough criminal background check and will have obtained a Mandated Reporter certificate. Within 90 – 120 Days a Behavior Therapist will have completed their 40-hour online RBT Training Course; completed hands-on training with BCBA; completed the Competency Assessment; applied to sit for the RBT Exam; and taken the RBT Exam and passed.

Parent(s) will be scheduled to meet with the BCBA once a week but no less than twice a month.

Prior to the onset of services there is an Intake process that must be completed to make sure that MBS, LLC is a good fit for the individual’s needs.

Intake consists of the following:

~ Completing an in-take form provided by MBS, LLC

~ Contacting insurance provider to make sure that MBS, LLC is credentialed and in-network so the

   client’s services are covered.

~ Out-of-Pocket/Direct Pay will require a credit card to be placed on file and a 50% deposit up front for
   the estimated monthly services.

~ A 60 – 90 minute home visit will be scheduled for observation purposes to make sure that the

environment where sessions will be taking place is a safe one for the ABA Team; reviewing any co-pays

that will be required and how those will need to be paid; reviewing Client Handbook; and signing any

necessary consent forms that provide MBS, LLC with the authorization to move forward.

Onset of services will consist of the following:

~ In-person/Direct Assessment completed by BCBA and possibly a RBT, which will take 2 hours a day

   over 1-2 days.

~ Assessment review, treatment planning, and initial assessment report will be completed within 10

business days of the in-person assessment being completed by the BCBA and then provided to the

   insurance company.

~ A copy of the Assessment Report will be provided to each client.

~ Approval/Authorization from the insurance company may take up to 3-4 weeks and depends on each

insurance company and is not something that MBS, LLC can control.

~ Upon an authorization being received, MBS, LLC will reach out to schedule the start of direct services.

~ The first 1-2 weeks will consist of the Therapist(s) and BCBA working together to make sure that all

programs and targets are being run properly; that all baseline data collection has been completed and

intervention has begun; any necessary training has been completed; observation of any challenging

behaviors have been addressed; and that a behavior intervention plan is set in place.

*Authorizations are typically good for a 6 month period and 1 month prior to that authorization ending,

the BCBA will start the assessment process all over again, however services will not be interrupted and

will continue as usual unless the authorization is not approved.

~ MBS, LLC will remain ethical and professional no matter what the situation or circumstance is. Any and

all Therapists and BCBAs have professional and ethical guidelines they must follow (these materials

   can be found at www.BACB.com

~ Ethical concerns should be addressed with the BCBA on the team immediately and if not addressed in

a timely manner then they should be addressed with the Owner of MBS, LLC if she is not the BCBA on

the team. Ethical questions and concerns may also be addressed at www.ABAEthicsHotline.com
