Let’s talk about positive social reinforcement and some other quick ways to provide reinforcement other than just saying “Good Job!” several times.

High fives are great, but don’t forget there are also fist bumps, finger tickles, and finger snaps. There are also cheers and some cool funny noises that may get a smile or giggle too!

Outside of saying “Good Job!”, one may wish to try the following:

  1. “You are Aweeeesome!”
  2. “Way to go!”
  3. “Aaaamaaazing!”
  4. “Wahoo!”
  5. “You are a super star!”
  6. “Well Done!”
  7. “You did it!”
  8. “Brilliant!”
  9. “Very good!”
  10. “Lovely”
  11. “You are so smart”
  12. “Keep it up!”
  13. “Wonderful”
  14. “Bam, you got it!”
  15. “Great”

Don’t forget that it is also important to provide descriptive verbal praise, which is adding in what the individual just did in order to receive the positive reinforcement as as:

  1. “I like how you clapped your hands”
  2. “Well done with clapping your hands”
  3. “Your matching was brilliant”

And so forth.
